The “Gardens of the Near Past” itinerary is dedicated to a selection of gardens created in Italy during the 20th century. In collaboration with the Associazione Parchi e Giardini d’Italia (APGI), the project took shape from a conference held in 2024, followed by a photographic campaign focusing on gardens created by Italian architects and landscape architects who worked both before and after World War II, helping to define the language of the contemporary garden.
The itinerary also includes gardens designed by prominent figures from abroad, often in close dialogue with passionate patrons, capable of expertly guiding the choices and, in some cases, sometimes participating decisively in the definition of the work.
In some of these gardens, greenery and architecture are employed in evocative and symbolic ways, transforming the visit to the green space into a true cognitive and commemorative journey.
These are mostly private commissions that restore the intensity of the relationship between designer and client, but there is no lack of examples in which this relationship opens up to a public and collective dimension.
